Why does my cold air intake make my car super slow?
I bought a cold air intake for my 2015 ford taurus put it on and lost power alot of power. I didn't use the normal air intake tubing i stayed with the tubing that comes in the car and put a filter at the end and reconnected the one sensor. Now my friend did this to his car and it gave him more power i don't know why mine loses power
LOL. CAI's are a MYTH and a total ripoff. You get scammed, brah.
The problem is that all engines are not the same. What works on one is unlikely to work on another. If one KNOWS the stock air intake is the limiting factor (and the throttle body, intake, heads, cam, and exhaust can all flow more than the air intake supports) then obviously you will see gains. That would only apply if you have a wideband o2 sensor and/or the vehicle was tuned with one, as the only gains will be seen under heavy throttle (where you want them, right?) and a narrowband O2 system can't modify fueling properly under those conditions if you have changed air and thus fuel requirements.
The unfortunate FACT is that manufacturers are competing to make as much power (thus efficiency) as possible, and they pay engineers millions of dollars to get the most out of the engines, to include the intake.
The likelihood of some Chinese company turning out a more effective product (that actually makes a difference you can tell, which is normally 10HP or better) is exceptionally small.
- Why is the A/C on 2002 Ford Taurus is not blowing cold air My freon is fine but when I have the A/C on max the motor engages intermittently. Should the motor run constantly while the A/C is on high? If it doesn't, any idea what could be wrong? Coincidentally, a squeal from the belt started when I started to use the A/C. It squeals when I accelerate, whether the A/C is on or not.
- Can i unplug my mass air flow sensor to get my cold air intake to work better on my 2015 ford taurus? When i put the cold air intake on my car it went really slow so if I unplug the sensor would it fix that problem
- Why is my 93 ford ranger 5 speed 3.0 heater now blowing out cold air? I have a 93 ford ranger. Last winter the heater worked descent. Blowing above warm air. Not as warm as my newer model car but it worked. The beginning of this winter it wasn't quite as warm as last year. Within 2-3 weeks its now blowing out cold air (defrost panel floor all vents). Last night at roughly 25-30 degrees I drove it approx. 10 miles occasionally turning heater/defrost on to try to defrost windshield some and upon returning home it sounded like boiling water under the hood.
- How dangerous is water to a cold air intake? I have a 1999 Ford Ranger that I recently bought and it has pretty bad gas mileage and I'd like to fix that and the power behind the engine. Where I live we get pretty significant rain fall and some small puddles that you end up having to drive through. The last think I want to do is hydro lock my engine. Are heavy rain and small puddles actually a danger for hydro locking a CAI? Even if I were to buy one of the waterproof jackets?
