Why does my cars alternator seem to be overcharging my battery?
My car is a 94 ford taurus
Bc the regulator is bad and needs robe replaced
Because it's charging MORE THAN 12.2 VOLTS. Get a re-manufactured one from NAPA or Carquest. Do not but electrical parts from Auto Zone!
The voltage regulator is what determines how much voltage is output. Some regulators are mounted on the alternater and others are remotely mounted, but regardless of that the regulator is probably defective.Replace the alternater or if the regulator is available separately just replace it.
First, verify it is overcharging. If you have more than about 15V across the battery (17 is typical for a runaway regulator) the voltage regulator on the alternator must be replaced. Rockauto.com has several versions available for whatever engine you have, with prices between about $30 and $70. In any case, I recommend staying with Motorcraft. Do not replace the alternator, which is excessively expensive and can introduce more problems. Remanufactured alternators have a horrible reliability record, too.
- With a few days to reflect, does Ford's story seem like someone relaying a dream? I'm being totally serious. "We were at some party, and you were there, and Kavanaugh was there and…" That is how you would not know who you went with, or when it happened, or where it was, or how you got home. You only remember a couple details and one "scene". In all seriousness, her story sounds like someone telling about a dream… It explains how nobody else who what "there" remembers it happening.
- Why do the colors of average quality cars doesn't seem to be diverse enough? Brands like Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Ford, Acura, Kia, Dodge, etc. Tend to sell their cars with boring and opaque colors like gray, black, dark red and pretty much colors with no vividness. Don't you guys think they would sell more cars if they came up with more interesting colors like purple, yellow, green and other colors that could be more appealing to the eye?
- What's the deal with Ford, why do they seem to be hated the most out of the big 3? I do have a preference in what I drive. But that doesn't mean I won't drive something else. It seems Ford is always on the bad end of memes, jokes, criticism, etc. Is there a particular reason or reasons why that is? Please no fan-boys either. I'd like to hear from more unbiased people.
- Does my MPG seem low or normal in my Ford Ranger? I own a 2005 Ford Ranger XLT 4.0 V6 4x4 Okay, yes I know it is a truck so I do not expect fantastic fuel mileage, but I was calculating my MPG with this app I have on my phone, and the average is anywhere between 13.2 and 13.6. The truck is a manual, so to help with the MPG, I usually shift around 2500-3000, and when I'm just driving I usually have it between 1500 and 2000. Does anything seem wrong here or is it normal?
