What could cause a 03 Taurus to stay idling high when coming to a stop and keep moving?
I have an 03 Ford Taurus recently it has began idling high and when i try to come to a stop it idles around 3000 rpms and will keep moving even if i apply the brake it will not stop all the way. I try putting the car in neutral to stop and the idling jumps to 4000 rpms. I have changed the Idle air control valve twice within the past week and it still has not fixed the problem. I have also checked to make sure the trottle body is not sticking open and have cleaned it thoroughly as well. Any suggestions?
The choke is stuck in the open position!
That is very high RPMs! Your brakes and transmission will be toast soon if you continue. There must be a check/service engine light on? If there's it can be read with a code reader to direct you to what sensor to test. Maybe throttle position sensor? Also a vacuum leak can cause high idle speed but not normally that high.
- Why won't my car stay idling? I just put a new fuel pump on my 1976 ford gran torino and it won't idle at all unless I fill the fuel bowl up and when I do that it will idle for a little bit and then when I start it up again it will idle for a little bit less then a little bit less and so on until it won't idle at all?
- What would cause the door locks and the trunk release to both stop working? 2002 Ford Crown Vic The other day the alarm suddenly went off, the door locks were going up and down and the trunk opened. I finally disconnected the battery for a while. After that everything was fine, except the door lock and trunk release mechanisms won't work. I have tried replacing several fuses and a circuit breaker (20 amp, CB) but they still won't work. Any ideas?
- What could cause my car to not stay running? I have a 99 ford contour. 4cylinder 2.0L. It cranks but will not stay running unless hitting the gas pedal. No check engine light. New MAF and Camshaft sensors. Got the car in feb and had new plugs and oil change. Could it be a clogged cat?
- Could a clogged fuel filter cause a code P0300 to go off in my 2004 ford taurus? My engine light went on. Got it checked at autozone and P0300 came up. My fuel gauge is also going nuts. I ll put $20 in which would give me a half tank. But I ll start the car and it will be at full, then I ll start the car later that day and it will be at three quarters. It is different literally everytime I start the car… I have no idea how much gas I have.
