What would cause the door locks and the trunk release to both stop working?
2002 Ford Crown Vic
The other day the alarm suddenly went off, the door locks were going up and down and the trunk opened.
I finally disconnected the battery for a while. After that everything was fine, except the door lock and trunk release mechanisms won't work. I have tried replacing several fuses and a circuit breaker (20 amp, CB) but they still won't work. Any ideas?
Check the battery. Low or dead batteries can make the car do strange things. When the battery died on my 2000 328Ci, the door locks failed to work, and the windows rolled down on their own.
Look up the user's manual on the internet. I ran into a similar problem on a rental car. You might find something interesting. I sure did. We couldn't open the trunk. It turned out the car had a security feature that could only be locked or unlocked by a button in the glove compartment. So, if you're battery is not toast, it might be something else.
- Where is the trunk safety release on a Ford Tempo? Mine doesn't have the release buttons in the glovebox and when I bought it the trunk wouldn't open. I got the back seat out but there's so much garbage and so little room I'm trying not to sift through all of it to find the safety release, does anyone know exactly where it's located?
- What would cause heat/ac blower motor on car to stop? Every so often the heat/ac motor on my car stops. I remove it (which is fairly easy) and put it back on. Then it works fine. I have checked the connections and fuses. They seem fine. The switch works too. Could it be a faulty motor? A new one costs $25-$50. Any ideas? 2002 Ford CV, V8, with climate control.
- Power windows and power door locks not working on my ford ranger? I have a 2000 ford ranger lte and the power windows, door locks, and power mirrors are not working… Where is the fuse? Are they all on the same fuse? What do you think I need to check?
- Had my ford transit broken into, door peeled in half, what would people recommend, van alarm or deadlocks and door strengthening? My van door was peeled in Half from top to bottom and cleared of everything inside. I'm thinking of getting an alarm that will go off if van is shaken or movement inside but I think this might be too late and the door damage done. Would I be better off getting visual locks for thief's to see then have my door reinforced inside out by my friend who's a welder.
