How to increase the speed and acceleration of my car?

I have a 2001 Ford Taurus V6 3.0L. What modifications can I make, if any, to increase speed and acceleration. Also what kind of tires are better for cities in hot areas such as Phoenix, Az that don't slide easily when braking?

Add a race cam and turbo, duel headers, and lose the muffler. Take all the seats out for less weight. Add a recaro racing seat. Racing slicks have no tread which gives maximum traction to the road but are not made for wet roads.

That car is useless

You will find that BMW and Porsches are much more efficient in power and performance.

Be thankful this car still runs. Do not put any more money into it. Use this time period that it is still running to save for the kind of car you really want. You don't have that much time to save. Trust me.

So which V6 does your car have. You wouldn't be whining if you has the 24 valve Duratec engine which was made by Mazda in Japan. If you have the mighty Vulcan push-rod 140 horse V-6 it's been discontinued by Ford. Nobody ever made aftermarket parts for it.

  • What car is cheap and can be modified to be really fast in speed and acceleration? I have a Ford Taurus and I feel like as if it lacks speed and acceleration. Also which modifications can increase the speed of the car and acceleration of it without removing any weight?
  • If I put lots of money in my car, does it increase its value? I bought my 2005 ford taurus for 2,800 USD. I have put brand new tires for $325, catalytic converter ($739 including labor), repainting and removing scratches ($1,700), shocks and struts ($752) new carpet ($359). New headlight assembly ($95). Does this raise the value of my car? Can I sell it for more than the kbb value?
  • I have a 2001 Ford Taurus Lx, it sputters and hesitates during acceleration? I have a 2001 Ford Taurus Lx, it sputters and hesitates during acceleration! It doesn't go pass 25 mph but will reach 5 rpms! Changed spark plugs and wires! Also changed coil pack! Both converters are working properly! Check engine light is not on! Doesn't run hot! Tire pressure indicator comes on though! Not sure what my next step is! I need help!
  • Car won't accelerate, but rpms increase? I replace my alternator on Saturday and starting that same day my car has had problems accelerating. When I hit 10mph, the rpms shoot to 4000 and I have to ease off the gas pedal. Occasionally this is accompanied by a groaning noise. I made sure that the connections to the alternator were secure, but I'm not sure what the problem could be. The car is a 1997 Ford Taurus. I would really appreciate any advice.
