If I put lots of money in my car, does it increase its value?

I bought my 2005 ford taurus for 2,800 USD. I have put brand new tires for $325, catalytic converter ($739 including labor), repainting and removing scratches ($1,700), shocks and struts ($752) new carpet ($359). New headlight assembly ($95). Does this raise the value of my car? Can I sell it for more than the kbb value?

It might raise the value a little, but not nearly as much as the money that you put into it

It will most likely only raise it to high side of KBB price (good condition).

NOTHING you list increase the value as much as the cost of doing it. The painting, carpet, and headlights had ZERO effect on the resale value. I doubt the overall increase in price is as much as yous spent on the catalytic converter.

No its an old car doesn't matter how much u spend on it

Nope, maintenance is expected, does not increase value

"Book" values assume the vehicle is in good, safe, serviceable condition. Any problems make your car worth less than book value… A super clean car with a history of constant preventative maintenance will be worth somewhat more. A car with a "lots of money" spent recently should be a red flag that it was improperly serviced and neglected… No one with any common sense would buy it.

I have a 2006 Ford Five Hundred: 75,000 miles and I swear that no one could tell it from brand new: inside, outside, under the hood - it doesn't look any different than the day I bought it. I have service records back to when it was new showing that all maintenance was done ahead of schedule, as well as preventative maintenance, waxing, treating the leather, etc., etc. I like taking care of things. I like to think that it's worth more than average - but I realize that if it gets in an accident, I'll only get average book value from the insurance company.

NO NOT EVEN CLOSE! Nearly all cars depreciate with time, and NOONE wants one that has been modified, etc. GOOD LUCK! A Fiord that old is barely worth $1500, NO MATGTER WHAT YOU DO TO IT! Any car FROM THAT YEAR HAS LOST tons OF VALUE! Even a BENZ is worth about $3-4k fter that time! SORRY, PAL!

  • How to increase the speed and acceleration of my car? I have a 2001 Ford Taurus V6 3.0L. What modifications can I make, if any, to increase speed and acceleration. Also what kind of tires are better for cities in hot areas such as Phoenix, Az that don't slide easily when braking?
  • How much money should i put away each paycheck for a used car? I'm 16 years old and I currently work at shop rite; I had a 1998 Ford Taurus for 7 months but i only paid $900 for it so i can learn how to drive but now it will not start at all! Now I desperately need a new car because I'm about to start college but i don't want to put that pressure on my parents because they need to pay for my college and nursing books! I work part time at shoprite and I get $100-150 every friday & I only saved up $200! Please give me advice!
  • Car won't accelerate, but rpms increase? I replace my alternator on Saturday and starting that same day my car has had problems accelerating. When I hit 10mph, the rpms shoot to 4000 and I have to ease off the gas pedal. Occasionally this is accompanied by a groaning noise. I made sure that the connections to the alternator were secure, but I'm not sure what the problem could be. The car is a 1997 Ford Taurus. I would really appreciate any advice.
  • How much money should I get for the diminished value on my car? So I just bought a 2014 ford mustang v6 premium. Had a 16 year old fender bender me 3 days after I bought it. It has 400 miles on it. The estimated damage on the car is $1,600. I'm wondering what kind of money the insurance company should give me for the diminished value on the car. The damage was to the rear bumper and taillight.
