How to add miles to a digital odometer?
I have a 2004 Ford Taurus. I had to get my whole dashboard replaced because the motor on the needle of the temperature guage broke. My miles are off by a lot now, and I was wondering if there was a way I could put it back to the correct miles. My car was at 189,000 miles and now it is at 133,000 miles.
Federal Law requires the Mechanic to adjust the Meter to the actual setting.
And/Or put a Label on the drivers door jamb to indicate the correct mileage adjustment, all for future buyers.

When you replace the odometer you should be able to set it ONE TIME and one time only… But if not you just need to write down the difference and put it somewhere safe so you can notify future owners of the difference.
Use a search engine to look for "mileage correction services". Whether legal or not, there are usually service providers who have the tools to set many digital odometers to whatever mileage you wish, although increasingly they're no longer able to be tampered with.
It requires the Ford Factory VCM tool and software to do this, Dealerships and licensed repair centers can do it. But not accessible to the general public, If it were every rag head used car dealer known to man would be lowering the mileage on they're vehicles. Although actual mileage is stored in the ECM it wouldn't stop the Rag Head from changing the odometer and claiming he had nothing to do with the tampering.

- Will a Ford Focus with 116K miles on it do a road trip from the UK to Germany? (2,500 miles)? It's got 116K on the clock, had a new Cambelt 3 months ago, four new tires two weeks ago and drives great, was serviced at the same time as getting the tires done but would it do the road trip? Going over 5 days. Please only answer if you know about cars, I'm not looking for uneducated opinions in the nicest possible way. It might be helpful to add that it's a 2002
- 2006 Ford Focus with 147k miles or 2005 Hyundai Elantra with 100k miles? Looking for a car for a student, I've received 2 offers, a 2006 Ford Focus for $4000 cash or a 2005 Hyundai Elantra for $4900 with $2000 down and the rest financed. Which would be a better deal? Go with the payment plan or scrap up all my cash? Both cars have been well maintained but can someone who knows cars tell me which would last longer?
