1994 Ford F150 speedometer and odometer is not working? - 1

We checked in another truck and our instrument cluster is working how it should be and we have changed the speed/speedometer sensor on the rear of the truck because there isn't one on the transmission on our truck our transmission is like a e40D. So what's the problem of this. Is it the wiring or what

If the fuses are all functional, it I likely an ECU problem, in which case you will need a diagnostic ECU reader (decent ones for $30 or so). It will give you an error code which you can look up in your owners manual or online and then find instructions to reset that function and have the computer relearn that process. Simple procedure and easy fix. Hope this helps and good luck!

Check fuse #18 under the dash and fuse #18 under the hood also.See if one or both of these fuses are blown. If they are, replace and double check to make sure they don't blow again after replacement. If one or both short after replacement, there's a short in one or more of the circuits that the blown fuse controls. If neither fuse is blown, check the sensor wiring harness on the rear differential for corrosion or loose/broken pins. Any other fuses related to the speedometer/odometer/psom/abs should also be checked. The info I just listed was located on a f150forum. Check the wires to the sensor on the rearend for power and ground.0 volts or infinite resistance(ohms)indicates an open in the wire(broke in half)Meter will read.1 if it has infinite resistance

  • What would cause my speedometer not to work on my 2001 ford windstar? Sometimes the speedometer works fine and sometimes it goes up to 20/25mph. Then stops there. All other gauges work fine. I took it to the shop and they replaced a sensor and the whole new speedometer console thing and it still went up to 20/25 mph. And stopped so they put my original parts back on so I didn't have pay for them. They told me to take it to ford dealership. Any ideas will b appreciated Thanks
  • How to add miles to a digital odometer? I have a 2004 Ford Taurus. I had to get my whole dashboard replaced because the motor on the needle of the temperature guage broke. My miles are off by a lot now, and I was wondering if there was a way I could put it back to the correct miles. My car was at 189,000 miles and now it is at 133,000 miles.
  • 2000 ford ranger manual speedometer not working? I just got this truck, runs great but no speedometer. I got my boyfriend to change the magnetic speed sensor on the rear differential but did not fix the problem, the fuse looks good, and the connector under the drivers seat was ok. Does anyone know what the problem could be? All of the other gauges work just fine.
