How much would it cost me to build a fast car?
I had a question… My mom has this really old 1995 Ford Taurus she's thinking about selling it this car is really beat up from the inside no dents from the outside though the engine is pretty bad but it still runs its been her daily driver for about 5-6years she wants to sell for 300$ but I wouldn't want her to let it go for that much and I was wondering how much it would cost me to basically make this a fast little son ***** pull the back seats out and everything
I wanted some recommendations on what engines and transmissions were good to fit this car v8 preferably with a budget of around 3-5k
What do you define as "fast" first of all.
Secondly, the Taurus could be a decent performer if equipped with the SHO engine and the 5-speed manual. But the regular V6 models were not designed primarily for performance. A V8 swap is physically possible but you would still be dealing with a FWD platform and you would need to significantly strengthen the rest of the powertrain to handle the extra power. In the end, it would still be a nose-heavy FWD platform and that hurts handling.
Remove everything under hood that says ford(engine and transmission) replace it with a gm 350 engine and transmission
The only V-8 engine that would fit a Taurus is the Yamaha engine that came in the Taurus SHO, and THAT is becoming a rare commodity. If your Mommy only wants $300 for her POS automobile, then that's about what it's worth. Don't waste your money.
- Is it possible to get a new transmission for an older car, if so, how much would it cost? I'm looking at buying a 2003 Ford Taurus with 85,000 miles on it. No, there are no transmission problems. I'm just thinking that if it were done now, that could add a lot of life onto the vehicle. And it would make sense because my estimate is that a new transmission is less that what this car is worth. The car is 5K.
- What is a good American vehicle to make fast/build? Looking around for a new car that would make a decent daily driver while still being a good mod platform for speed/acceleration. Budget is $20k-$25k. I'm looking at a few Ford 6.4 Powerstrokes, Ford Mustang GT 4.6/5.0, Camaro SS 6.2, Silverado 6.6 duramax. Any other suggestions? I'm not looking to do full on engine builds, just bolt-on mods(preferably kits).
- If you have enough money, can you have a new classic car built? Like can I pay to have ford build me a 1970 Mustang? Lets say I don't want to buy an old car and restore it, I want a 1970 but straight off the factory line. Can you have a car built with the old style frame, engine, trans, etc?
- How much would it cost to completely rebuild a car? I currently own a 2000 Ford Mustang. It has 180K miles on it, rust, and some cosmetic damage on both bumpers. I'm also not sure where to go for this kind of extensive work. Also wondering if it's possible to go to anywhere like a ford dealership and order the same year and model car and purchase it
