How much would it cost to completely rebuild a car?

I currently own a 2000 Ford Mustang. It has 180K miles on it, rust, and some cosmetic damage on both bumpers. I'm also not sure where to go for this kind of extensive work. Also wondering if it's possible to go to anywhere like a ford dealership and order the same year and model car and purchase it

Way too many variables to even give a reasonable guesstimate.

The answer really depends on what needs to be fixed/replaced and to what level you want to "rebuild" this Mustang to.

You can search AutoTrader.com for a 2000 Mustang, but a dealer sure as heck would not have one. You can take the car to a mechanic and have a rebuilt motor installed. Maybe the brakes, new tires and rims, new exhaust system, and whatnot also. A body shop can repair the rust and paint the car and also redo the interior. It is all about how much money you want to put into the car. The more you spend, the more you can change out - from $5,000 to $25,000.

However much you want it to cost… Though it would probably not be very cheap and you'd ironically probably have to use salvaged parts or something since 94-04's definitely don't have the aftermarket support for every nut and bolt the way the classic ones do… Also compared to a classic one it would also generally NOT be worth the money it would cost to do it either

And NO (as all ready said) there's no way to buy a 14year old car NEW from a dealership… The best you would be able to do is buy a used one.

1. No, you can't buy a 14 year old car new from a dealership.
2. It would cost significantly more than the car is worth to completely rebuild the car. You could get the damage fixed, however at any body shop.
3. If it's a V8, the engine is good to go another 200k miles easy. Just keep the oil changed and watch for oil consumption/leaks.

See if you can buy a salvage car on EBay that has good bumpers. At 200k your 4.6 modular V8 is probably also due for a rebuild. Where is it rusted? The 2k mustang came with a fiberglass hood and a fiberglass hatch it my memory is correct.

It would cost way more then the car is actually worth. Probably enough money to buy a nice new car
