How good of a deal is this car on ebay?

http://www.ebay.com/...1467232799 I'm looking to get my first car and part of me is wanting to get this car. Being a new driver I sort of need a beater, but a bit worried that I'll be wasting money. I'm about 1 month away from getting my pell grant, which would allow me to get a car up to $4,000. But with being a new driver, I worry a bit about putting all my money into a car and then crashing it. What are your opinions on this car that is roughly $600. The car is being sold by a non profit organization that uses the funds to help at risk youth boys and they say that a mechanic goes through all the cars.

Added (1). Looking at the inspection, other than rust, it has a worn gasket

Uhh my personal opinion? Don't buy a car on ebay. That's like buying a house on ebay. Get your first car at a regular dealership, in person. Never buy something like a car over the internet without seeing it first.

A 600 dollar rust bucket… You get what you pay for and this beauty will last about 50 miles

You need to read the info more closely - that vehicle, like most on ebay, is up for auction… That price of $585 is the starting bid! It may go up to who knows how much… The organization is at least doing good in the name of God!

Id never buy a car off ebay without driving it first. I would avoid a Taurus because of transmission issues.

Also, you CAN't BUY IT at its current bid. It means nothing.

I've started lots of bidding at low prices at auctions. Where it sells is what matters. Not where it starts.

A head gasket is a bad motor. A valve cover gasket is a $75-150 repair.

And rust is a pretty big deal too.

You didn't read the inspection closely enough. The frame is listed as rust damaged and not legal to operate.

NEVER BUY THIS SCAM CAR… You will pay for a car that you will never get… And have no recourse on getting your money back… This SCAM has been going on well over 20 years ===== buy a car that you can test drive and inspect [ ALWAYS ] == do not get ripped off… And anyway the Taurus fdor 4K is not good…

Can't you find a POS locally? Not sure I would buy anything off Ebay, too many scammers. Also depends on where you live. Its about $1,000 to ship it unless you live locally

  • Where to get CAR PARTS - good deal? I'm looking to buy a car alternator for my used car - it is a 10year old ford car. where can i get it cheap in online i need something that is new, good deal and reliable webstie. please advise.
  • Is this a good deal on this car? Okay, so my dad totaled my grandma's 1999 Ford Taurus and this is the closest thing I could find to what she had. My grandma doesn't drive much so the vehicle's age doesn't matter really but she still wants a car to drive around in. My local Mazda dealer is selling this 2008 Mazda5 with 92,567 miles for $8,980. Is this a good deal?
  • Is this a good deal for a 1974 ford ltd? The car looks great in person, and the guy seems very trustworthy. Selling for $4,500. I'm looking for something reliable but still has some mojo and comfort.
  • How is ebay still in business? They allow the Chinese to sell FAKE sterling jewelry (50 cents for a "sterling" ring) and FAKE silver dollars (counterfeit) and FAKE silver bars. They have more complaints against them than GM Ford and Toyota COMBINED. A lawsuit is filed against ebay every 8 minutes! A California judge called ebay "the worlds largest criminal organization" from the bench!
