Car for a first time driver?
After 21 years, I'm finally getting my license.
I have some money saved up to get myself a car.
It'll be mainly used for running around town, going to pay bills, grocery shopping, and such.
It'll mostly just me in the car. Sometimes my Grandma and maybe my cousin and her son, if they ever decide to leave the basement.
Anyway, I narrowed it down to three different cars.
A 2008 Toyota Prius or a 2006 Ford Taurus or a 1992 Volkswagen Jetta.
I don't know how to figure this out.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Please and thank you.
I would choose 2008 Toyota Prius for Style, Reliabillity, Economy and Space. Now, If you don't want to keep on refilling your gas every dsy, Toyota Prius is a good choice. Most people say an Toyota is really reliable and I think so too. I still see some 1990's Corollas roaming around my state. But get an 2010 Prius instead because I have heard that there was a problem with the Brakes being stuck on the floor mats and I'm not sure if the person selling it to you might have ignored the recall but, 2010 is the never version which I think is more stylish and it has greater MPG (Miles Per Gallon) than the older version.
I wish had mentioned your budget.
But the second hand price suggests around the $2000
For this money, I would not buy any of the above.
Try a Hyundai. You will get a newer car and maintenance costs will be lower.
Hope that helps
I agree with Bill… Best of luck
The Prius or Taurus were more reliable when new but you would need to get which ever one you decide on inspected by a qualified mechanic before purchase to make sure there are no major problems. Don't forget you will need to buy Insurance and it will be very expensive ( several hundred dollars per month) for a new driver.
Why the difference in the age of the cars? For a fIrst timer go with the cheapest and what will get the job done, after a year or two find something else after you know what you relly want. If your not a seriuos driver then just go with the minimum maintenance wise and cost efficiency. If it were me i would say the jetta, if it was a vr6 and stick even better!
- Where in the UK can I hire a classic american car for self drive, ie, as driver not passenger? I want to hire a classic car preferably something like a dodge charger or ford 69 gto for a day or two as a gift to a petrol head, obviously I want him to be able to drive the car himself. We're London based but could be in surrounding areas to pick up the car.
- What's the best car for a new teen driver? I'm going to be getting my first car pretty soon and I was wondering what kind of car would be best for a 16 year old girl! I'm not too picky on the model and I just wanted to know what would be best, most affordable choice for me right now.
- Help this first time driver? I need all your opinions here. Ford Mustang or dodge charger? And why did you pick what you did? Good things about each?
- Good first car for new driver? I'm almost 16 and my parents want your opinions. Would a 2005 Ford Mustang (not a gt) be an okay car for a teen? Or would there be too much power? Also if you have a mustang: How fast do they go? Any reoccurring problems linked to mustangs?
