Why will my car half-crank, but not turn over?

I have a 2004 ford taurus, with starting problem. Its not a no start no crank, but its also not a crank no start. Its more of a half-crank no start, and the HUD is displaying a low oil pressure reading but car is full of oil. The car does a half crank then just stalls out.

Do an OBD2 code check. Quit trying to crank it until you find out what's wrong. If the timing belt slipped or bloke, you could be forcing pistons against open valve, bending them.

So you're saying the starter engages in the flywheel but the motor only spins over for a second? Can you still hear the starter motor spinning? If yes go buy a rebuilt starter.

REPLACED WIRING HARNESS ALSO. ANY Help WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
  • May car tries to turn over while the key is the accessories position. Why is that? Car is a 1971 Ford Mustang 302 5.0 V8. I replaced all the gaskets, rebuilt the carb, had a new solenoid, voltage regulator, started, coil, timing chain, and oil pump put into the car. I'm getting a new Neutral Safety switch for the vehicle but could that be it?
  • Half quart over in oil, is that okay? 2005 Freestar. Thought it took almost 6 qts like my Duratec in my othrr Ford. Maybe half quart over and couple hundred miles from home on vacation. Should I buy a 15mm box wrench for a few bucks and drain it off, or is it not a big deal.
  • My 2001 ford focus will crank but will not start? I had some oil leaking so my husband rinsed off the left side of the car under to hood to get oil off now it will not start it was running great before he did this we have replaced the spark plugs and put a new fuel. Pump in and a fuel pressure sensor new battery it will crank when you turn it over but it will not start. What are we miss in please help
