Can I tow a 12ft jon boat on a 2001 ford taurus?

I plan on getting a 12ft jon boat just a trolling motor and battery and will be traveling alone.

With a front wheel drive I wouldn't do this. Now whenever I give this kind of answer like this the know it all's tell me how wrong I'm. Well you decide as its not me who pays for the repairs that could/will be damaged so I don't really care as its not my car, not my money.

Yes most front wheel drive cars have a towing capacity of up to 1000 lbs.
If your owners manual states a towing capacity (and it should) then it is perfectly safe (mechanically or otherwise) to tow up to the capacity stated in the manual.

  • Why can't powerful cars tow like trucks can? I don't know if this a dumb question, but I don't understand why you can't, I know you aren't supposed to but why. If my 230 hp Ford Ranger can tow 6000lbs, why can't the 845 hp dodge demon tow something, it has way more hp, way more torque and 2 more cylinders. Does it have something to do with the suspension not being able to hold the weight or what?
  • How much weight can a 2002 ford ranger tow? I was thinking about buying a camper. And I was woundering how much can my little ranger tow with out tearing up anything on my truck.
  • Can I put a boat motor in my truck? So I have a 1992 ford ranger 2.3 and the stock motor blew up in it and I bought a 89 2.3 cobra race motor that came out of a boat and my 92 is fuel injected and the 89 is carbureted, I just wanted some input on how things will turn out if it's possible, what problems I may experience, and is it common to do this? Or is it gonna be a huge hassle
