How much weight can a 2002 ford ranger tow?
I was thinking about buying a camper. And I was woundering how much can my little ranger tow with out tearing up anything on my truck.
It should say the max tow weight on the side of the drivers door

Depends on the size of the engine. Maximum specification by the book are:
2.3L - 1480 lbs
3.0L - 2320 lbs
4.0L - 3260 lbs.
Halve the maximum recommendations if you are planning on hitting hills. Rangers were made to be economical, not tow vehicles. Mine had a hard time with a 1200 lb. Pop-up camper.
- Why can't powerful cars tow like trucks can? I don't know if this a dumb question, but I don't understand why you can't, I know you aren't supposed to but why. If my 230 hp Ford Ranger can tow 6000lbs, why can't the 845 hp dodge demon tow something, it has way more hp, way more torque and 2 more cylinders. Does it have something to do with the suspension not being able to hold the weight or what?
- My Ford Ranger keeps sliding (its been raining lately), do I just add on more weight in the bed? I went to turn left and ended up drifting 180 to the left and then 90 to the right bc I turned the opposite direction but then I safely proceeded straight, then I was getting back from a concert, and I was stopped at a stop light.so when it turned green I went to go and I was kinda stuck In place and my tire was just spinning but I believe I was in a little hole at that moment.
