Any tricks to installing a tranny filter on a 2000 ford taurus?

I got it out but the new one won't go back in. There's a lip it seems to be to big to get past. I tryed oil.

Are you sure you have the right one? Does it look EXACTLY like the old one?

Did you get the old seal out of the valve body? They sometimes stick in there pretty good… Sometimes you can reuse them… The new seal (green) will be more flexible, easier to push the filter into, I prefer replacing with new.
The factory pan gasket IS made to be reusable. And seals better than most aftermarket gaskets.
Make sure you follow the manufactures refill instructions…

  • Why did my 2000 Ford Windstar just blow all off the tranny fluid out. But now its not leaking anything? I drove it with a trailer attached all day then I dropped the trailer off and drove home. When a was turning on to my street the car violently shuck but kept going I pulled into my drive way and looked under my car and big puddle of tranny fluid everywhere. So I filled it up this morning and drove it 75 miles and when I got back I was still full on fluid and nothing was leaking. So WHY?
  • Installing Aftermarket Head Unit in 2003 Ford Taurus SES? I can't figure out the wiring situation. I got the harness that runs all the way back to the trunk; however, it only has 9 wires. Two for each of the four speakers (8) and one to control an amp if applicable. However, while the wires from the head unit have two power wires, the harness has none. The head unit I got is a DEH-X6700BS. Please help, how do I power this head unit when the wiring harness has no wires for power, only speaker wires?!
  • Installing a head unit in Ford Taurus? So I know you have to buy the kit to put your own head unit in the Taurus. My question is since I have the one with the 6 disc cd changer do I have to buy a more expensive kit even tho I'm not gna use the cd changer anymore? Also going to wire the car up for amp and sub to be later installed since the head unit will be out already.
