Installing a head unit in Ford Taurus?

So I know you have to buy the kit to put your own head unit in the Taurus. My question is since I have the one with the 6 disc cd changer do I have to buy a more expensive kit even tho I'm not gna use the cd changer anymore? Also going to wire the car up for amp and sub to be later installed since the head unit will be out already.

This would be easier if you told us the model year of the Taurus…

That said, the price of the kit doesn't depend on whether you have a CD changer (usually you can't keep it working with the new head unit in any case). There are two kits, and the difference is the type of climate controls you have. The less expensive kit is for vehicles with rotary knobs for the climate controls; a more expensive kit is for vehicles with digital push-button climate controls. This assumes you have a 2000-2006 Taurus; if you have a 96-99 Taurus with digital climate controls, no kit is available.
