What's the difference in car brakes from 03' to present day?

I recently purchased a 2003 Ford Ranger to go to and from work. I also have a 2017 Tacoma. I just had an alignment, new control arms, rotors, and brakes put on the Ranger and I get a loud squeak every time I come to a stop or use the brakes. When I press on the break pedal it's almost as if I can feel the pad rubbing and the vibration. Obviously I don't experience this with my 2017 Tacoma. So I'm just wondering is this normal or is there something wrong?

Brakes still operate the same way… Mainly disks and rotors and perhaps a drum and shoe system on the rear axle.

Loud squeaking is not normal. Perhaps whomever did the brakes did not apply a brake grease/paste on the rear of the pads?

That isn't normal at all. Who did the work? It sounds as though it wasn't done properly.

Its not the technology (unless you include ABS.) A squeak won't be prevented by ABS, you have worn pads, cheap pads, bad rotors/drums, poor pad return, loose /incorrectly assembled shoes/pads, .etc.

Occasionally they Look like they are in right but get ******** and squeak/drag. One pops out. Or, you can try some real hard braking and see if they reseat. My renter's Pontiac pulled bad to one side; he did this and it was Ok afterwards.

Take it back, even out of warranty a safety issue can pressed. You can get them to do it right, no charge.

They probably put cheap brake pads on the vehicle. Go back and have them fix it.

Had a mechanic at my work look at it and he said I should definitely take it back to them. He thinks the brake pads might be forming a glaze and hardening and grinding on the rotors.

16 years, that's the difference.
