Oils gauge on my truck goes absolutely nuts when idleing. Any ideas what it could be?

I have a 2003 Ford Ranger 3 Litre. I recently had some problems with the PCV valve and replaced it (the valve worked fine, I tested it). Afterwards, every time I'd stop and a stop light after going probably above 45 it would rapidly go up and down. If I got off the interstate it would move so much you could here it tapping against the pin. A couple days ago I had to disconnect (and reconnect) the battery, and now the guage moves much more frequently, and the" check gauge" light likes to flash on and off, and turns on briefly when I shift (its and automatic). Even after all this it stabelizes right as I open the throttl.

Did you buy the correct PCV valve? Install it in the correct direction? The air flow should be from the valve cover to the air intake.
The oil pressure sending units fail frequently.

This sounds like the oil pressure sending unit is failing. You can either have the oil pressure checked with a mechanical gauge or you can replace the sending unit to see if that solved the problem. The sending unit is relatively inexpensive ($38 at NAPA) and it is easy to replace (it just screws in)

When I turn the 4x4 selector knob nothing happens I'm pointing out that the light comes on before it starts because its not the actual 4x4 module thats the issue like everyone assumes from he start.
