My Ford Ranger keeps sliding (its been raining lately), do I just add on more weight in the bed?

I went to turn left and ended up drifting 180 to the left and then 90 to the right bc I turned the opposite direction but then I safely proceeded straight, then I was getting back from a concert, and I was stopped at a stop light.so when it turned green I went to go and I was kinda stuck In place and my tire was just spinning but I believe I was in a little hole at that moment.

If your vehicle keeps sliding you think maybe you're driving too fast?

You are just being far too heavy footed on the gas and nothing more than that.

You're driving too fast and/or tires are bald.

I used to have a 1995. It slid so bad especially over bumps. Very unsafe and underpowered if you have the 4 cylinder.

Weight in the bed over the rear wheels should give you better traction for starting and stopping but you need to slow down when making turns to maintain control.

PUBLIC STREETS ARE NOT A RACE TRACK… SLOW DOWN AND TRACTION WON't BE A PROBLEM.

Sounds like:

You are driving too fast for the conditions

and/or

Your tires are worn out (not enough tread).

Possibly a brake is locking up, or not working properly, making braking uneven.

Low tires spin easy. Bald tires spin easily when wet. If you don't have those problems, then the road is too slick for the speed you're driving.

More weight will just make you slide further.
Check those tires!

Snow and ice come soon. Slide on water = crash on ice/snow.
Drove as Ranger for a while - no different than any other pickup, just smaller.
