I want advice if I should buy this Ford Ranger-Any opinion is great?
I got my license a few months ago and am about to get a car, I really like this 97 Ford Ranger XLT crew cab 4.0 4x4 v6 and wondering if it is worth $3100 seeing as it has 187000 miles on it. I think its worth it cause I like working on cars but my parents are skeptical and I would really like some advice on convincing them with some good arguments of you think the truck is good.
An 18 year old vehicle with 4WD is something just asking for trouble! You may like "working on cars" but unless you have lots of $$ and the proper tools, you won't like working on that one… Sorry, but there's only a "no" vote here
TOO MUCH $$… I had several Rangers… With that many miles, on a "baby truck"… Maybe $2000 if its in top shape
- Why would people buy a Toyota Hilux when they can buy a better, superior Ford Ranger? I owned a 2010 Toyota Camry and it broke down in 2011 upon reaching 0.6k miles. I treated it like a baby and it failed and disappointed me. My friend also owned a 2008 Toyota Tacoma and it failed to start in 2009 upon reaching 8k miles. And the mechanic said it was impossible to fix. However, my uncle has a 1965 Ford Falcon with over 750k miles on its clock and it still runs like new and he never even changed its oil since he bought it.
- Looking for your opinion So I'm a mechanic i replace my head gasket on my 1996 ford ranger 2.3 gasket the head bolts the hole 9 yards I torqued the head 51 to 90 ft pounds and the sequence was 51 to 60 to 80 90 so I don't know if i should re torque head bolts or leave it? I'm afraid if i torque them again one will break what do you think paul?
- I have a Ford Ranger 4.0 and the AC doesn't blow very cool air. I want to add refrigerant for very 1st time, never have added to any vehicle? I'm using a gauge to test the pressure. With AC on max the needle moves between 25 and 45, the blue normal range. The compressor cuts on at 45 and off at 25. This happens continuously. The outside temp is 80 degrees. Not exactly understanding what I was doing, I added a little refrigerant and now the needle goes to 47 in the yellow range. Will this do any harm? Can I remove the excess refrigerant? If so, how? Is the system fully charged? If so, why isn't the air cooler?
- What car should I buy if my budget is $15,000 and reliability is all I want? I'd prefer a new car. I was looking at the Nissan Versa. Easy to maintain, not many repairs, cheap, good on gas etc. Are there any better alternatives to it? Reliability is my main focus, nothing else
