Why doesn't my ebrake work?

I have a 2004 ford ranger 2.3 with manual transmission. Yesterday I went to push in the ebrake to park it for the night and I guess I pressed to hard and felt a snap. Now the ebrake doesn't work. Do I need to change the cables or readjust them?

I don't know

If you felt a snap, the cable probably broke.

Sounds like it's just the cable. A block of wood is a effective a blocke in a crisis tho

Cable or the plastic piece that operates the cable has broken.Look under the dash.Might have to pull that e/brake apart from under the dash

You need to replace whatever is broken. If you can't figure it out, take the car to a REAL mechanic and pay to have it repaired.

You've got the damn truck. If you think you can change brake cables or adjust the cable why the hell are you asking us instead of getting under the truck and checking the cables?!
