Clutch will not release on a 1998 Ford Ranger, what could be the cause?
If you dealing with a slave and piston release, is it working? You would need someone to push the clutch down as you are under the vehicle checking the movement. If that is working then the clutch disc may be stuck to the transmission input shaft from rusting in place, Shock can break it lose. Drive it and keep hitting the brakes while your holding the clutch down, works for my snow plow Jeep. The other thing that might be is that the springs in the clutch disc have broken and have become lodged between the disc and the pressure plate. For that you tear it down.
- What would cause the door locks and the trunk release to both stop working? 2002 Ford Crown Vic The other day the alarm suddenly went off, the door locks were going up and down and the trunk opened. I finally disconnected the battery for a while. After that everything was fine, except the door lock and trunk release mechanisms won't work. I have tried replacing several fuses and a circuit breaker (20 amp, CB) but they still won't work. Any ideas?
- What could cause my car to not stay running? I have a 99 ford contour. 4cylinder 2.0L. It cranks but will not stay running unless hitting the gas pedal. No check engine light. New MAF and Camshaft sensors. Got the car in feb and had new plugs and oil change. Could it be a clogged cat?
- My '83 Ford Ranger clutch won't release? It started by getting hard to shift into third gear when driving. Soon after, it wouldn't release whatsoever. Got new cylinders. Bled the system for three days. Got another set of new cylinders and bench bled it. Didn't help. The pedal feels mushy. Took the tranny out. No spring loose from the Clutch as some mentioned might be the problem. Everything appears to be as it should be. Any ideas?
