Can I make my five speed to a six speed?

I have a 91 Ford Ranger 3.0L V6 five speed. I know it's not an idea vehicle to fix but I enjoy the vehicle much. I would to fix it up, I know to give it a better performance that I have to make a lot of things custom. One thing I'd like to do is change it to a six speed, would it be wise to do so and is it possible? I'm hoping for a little bit gas mileage doing this and maybe faster acceleration?

You can modify the car for a 6 speed but the conversion wouldnt be worth the time invested.

lets put it this way you will have to find and wreck a complete 2011+ mustang v6 manual. Then modify all the bits so it fits in your truck.

IIf the ranger ever came with a six-speed it would be a simple matter of swapping the tranny out, but I don't think it ever did, though I could be wrong. You should research that first. If it did come with a six-speed then just find one and swap it, if the new tranny is from a different year make sure they had the same motor, I know foci changed motors really often. Then it will bolt right on and you will most likely have to change the shift linkage.

You can probably add a Gear Vendors overdrive. Would turn you 5 speed into a 10 speed!

You want a six gear car then buy a six gear car!
