Can a ford ranger handle winter?

Its small. I'm wondering if it will be powerful in the winter like a regular truck?

Or should I just get a different truck?

A trucks power has little to do with winter driving. If anything, you would want it to be LESS powerful to avoid losing traction. Since trucks are typically rear-wheel drive, the most important thing to worry about is having 4WD and great tires.

Rangers can do just fine through the winter but if you've got a 2WD model and all season tires then you'll probably want to put some weight in the back end to improve overall weight distribution. A commonly used item for this is a sand bag but most any kind (within reason, use common sense here) of concentrated weight over the rear tires would work. Also be sure to have a serviceable set of tire chains on hand.
