As with any vehicle that displays a check engine light, you will need to go to an auto parts store, or someplace that can attach an OBD 2 reader and get the codes. Once the codes are found, you will know what repairs are needed

Head to autozone or somewhere, they'll read the check engine light for you and tell you what's causing it

Both answers are wrong. You need an OBD I reader. These are also brand-specific. So you either need a Ford OBD reader OR a paperclip.
OBD II is on 96 and newer vehicles.
