2008 Ford Ranger ABS issue?
2008 Ford Ranger with an ABS problem. ABS activates constantly under 25 mph. But once I hit 25 MPH the light comes on and the brakes work great at all speeds until the truck is shut off, then the problem restarts.
I have installed new pads and rotors, making sure the ABS ring is on each rotor, and identical to the worn out parts I replaced. I replaced one front ABS sensor due to damage, the other front sensor tests good. Rear sensor was pulled and cleaned, not sure how to test. Had shop diagnose the light, but the test came back "ABS system unresponsive".
Any help is greatly appreciated.
I think you need a device to read the ABS failure codes. Those codes will probably point to the failed device/sensor.
Ford had problems with tone rings that cracked at the wheel hubs, the tone ring is the part that the sensor reads. You'll need to scan it and find out which wheel(s) are triggering the problem and carefully inspect the rings.
Thank you both for your answers.
The tone rings are brand new and complete, no cracks.
The shop tried to read the code with their scan tool but could not get a response from the system.
Is there an ABS computer aside from the main PCM that I can pull and test/replace?
- Why would you think my 2008 Ford H 53 chassis Motor home engine randomly cut off and the ABS light come on? Ford Triton V10 when heading up a hill sometimes the engine will cut out and the ABS light on the dash comes on and goes out. The engine continues to run and we get home just fine. Seems like power is getting cut off or something.

- 2006 Ford Mustang with ABS light and TCS light. What do I do? I recently got an 06 Mustang with an ABS light and TCS light on. I had it checked out just by a quick view. The guy does not believe my hub assembly or bearings are bad. I replaced the ABs sensor and it still did not seem to help. When I had it scanned the computer said it is the passenger rear ABS. I have no grinding, no noises, no issues driving, but I want to fix it properly. Does anyone have any ideas on what steps to take now?
