1990 ranger starting issue?

I have a 1990 ford ranger that with the key i can't start it but i can cross over the starter solenoid I've replaced the starter solenoid and the starter .still same results wondering if theirs anything else that I'm missing

Its a 4x2 2.3L also don't know of that helps with anything

Take it to a mechanic and have the wiring checked. But keep in mind that you've got a 30 year old truck with high mileage and pouring substantial sums of money into repairs may not be worth it.

First thing I would check/change would be the fuel pump relay.

It sounds like either the ignition switch, or the ignition switch relay box ( usually lower on the steering column ). I would check those out.

You either have a bad electrical portion of the ignition switch or a bad neutral safety switch which is part of the range switch on the transmission.
A simple 12 volt test light is all you need to diagnose it.

  • Would a transmission from a 1993-94 ford ranger lariet be compatible with a 1990 model? Can they be interchanged? Or looking for used/rebuilt transmission for 1990 model… Automatic with 2.9 liter,6 cyclinder
  • What do y'all think of a ford ranger pickup 1990? I'm interested in a 1990 ford ranger pickup truck. It is a four cylinder and 5 speed truck. Do any of you have any good experience with these trucks?
  • I just bought a 1990 Ford Ranger and it is doing something weird? As stated in the title I bought a 1990 Ford Ranger today and it had recently gotten some parts replaced including: Fly Wheel, Starter, tires and some others. But the problem is, when I'm stop and accelerate the whole truck shakes and jiggles and I'm not exactly sure what it is? Any comments help. It's a Ford Ranger 1990 Automatic 4wd. Also, I'm not sure if this is normal on these old of cars but when on the freeway going about 65 that's red lining it.
  • Can I save money by adding hho to my 1990 ford ranger? I always see these water generators online that claim if you add this to your already fuel burning vehicle it would make it more efficient. I love my little ranger but gas is so expensive and I drive long distances. It just doesn't seem like it could actually work or more people would be doing it right? Are the kits hard to put in? Is it worth my time/money? Will I actually save or is this just what they are claiming?
