2008 ford ranger 2.3 how do I set timing on the camshafts?
I got the engine to tdc by using the alignmental kit with the tdc peg. I just don't know what way the first cam lobe is suppose to face up or down?
4 Hours and Nobody wants this question. You've got the Crankshaft to TDC#1. You should have lined up the Camshafts first. You don't want any piston at the top when you rotate the cams to line up. Take the pin out and rotate 1/4 turn to lower them. Next look at the BACK of the Cam, you'll see the slots that the cam tool lays in to hold it. They need to be horizontal in the upper position. If you don't have the bar you may be able to rent the tool. That is a MAZDA L Engine… Even tho it says Ford Duratec.
- Timing belt replacement on 1997 Ford Ranger 2.3L XLT? I'm replacing a timing belt on my ford ranger in the morning, I was curious if I have to remove the crankshaft pulley in order to time it or if I just have to line up the markings and then put the belt back on. And no suggestions to take it to a mechanic most people learn by doing themselves its an old truck so that's what I'm doing.
- My 2008 ford ranger Truck is making a Grinding noise when clutch is engaged/press. What are my options? I attach a youtube video of a different car making the same sound. - 1996 ford ranger 2.3 liter i did a cylinder head swap to a 1993 mustang 2.3 now timing is off what can i do? Blown head gasket on my 1996 2.3 ford lima engine I was not able to gind a head so I found a head that was for a 1993 mustand 2.3 whit low milage and installed and now my timing is off.

I just installed some Ford hot rod camshafts in my 2010 mustang GT and also have shorty headers, a cold air intake, cat back exhaust, and 24 lb ford racing injectors and was wondering if it is safe to drive for 2 weeks without a tune, my dyno appointment isn't until the 22nd
