I'd start with changing the bulbs, although its uncommon for both high beams to go out at the same time. It could be the dimmer switch, but that's a little more difficult to change.

2005 e250 when you turn the headlights from low beams to high beams, the lights go out. What's wrong?

Ford puts a relay for the low beams & a separate relay for the hi's. The relays are usually in the circuit breaker/fuse box on the driver's wheel well under the hood.

Hi the car needs looking at at a Ford dealer as it has lost one of it's power relays.

  • My Ford Transit headlights turn on in off position and turn off in the on position? I'm a new driver, just passed my test. My van has some issue with the lights: namely, the lights turn off in the on position when the dash lights come on, and turn on when they are supposed to be off. This means that I'm driving at night without dash lights as I need to have the lights switched off in order for my headlights to be on. Might this be an electrical issue? Would anybody be able to give me advice and possibly know how much this costs to repair?
  • Why won't the high beams work on my car? I just bought a 2012 ford mustang and everything works perfectly except for the high beams. Low beams, parking lights, turn signals, fog lights all work. The person I bought the car from did have EMT lights put in and removed them before selling me the car. Is it possible he messed something up when removing the EMT lights? If not what could the problem be?
