New GMC Truck advertises their tailgate (only) every commercial?
Why can't you buy this working tailgate or their largest engine on their work truck? You have to get a $50K truck to get their best working features. I've never had a Ford, but I've got to look.
Supply and demand doesn't make sense or isn't economically feasible to produce for the work truck line. All companies do it. Try to buy tall clothes at Walmart, or big shoes and Payless etc.
Because when people are shopping for a pick-up truck they look exclusively at the tailgate… Not. I don't know why GMC is obsessed with their new tailgate but I'm pretty sure buyers are looking more at the price and features of a potential truck. When I had my F-150 I rarely needed to actually get inside the bed, and when I did I just grabbed the lip of the bed, stepped on top of the tire, and swung myself over.
Just wait until road salt and moisture get into the working parts of the tailgate.
Ford trucks scare me, they ran that 5.4 engine with all its problems for years, they have "extended service" for fluids and maintaining things and all that does is pad their QA numbers by deferring the maintenance and causing severe issues out of warranty. The Ford "Tec" engines have water pumps run off the timing chains inside the front cover and if they go out it's a $1500 repair for what use to be a $20 part and 1/2 hour of work. If you don't catch the bad pump fast enough your engine is toast. I can't recommend Ford unless you Really know their systems. You can make the 5.4 better with new single piece plugs, better cam phasers, and VTT solenoids and replacing timing chains and tensioners but not cheaply.
As for GMC, they want the be the "luxury truck" with the gimmicks. Use to be the other way around, you bought GMCs for work and Chevys for everything else.
I'm not in the Rust Belt, so I would have no problem getting a used GMC/Chevy Vortec V8 from 2002 and newer, rebuild the engine and tranny as needed and keep running. Engine and 4L60 or 80 are worth putting the best parts into and giving you years more service. With better valve springs and different cam, the Vortec can give you an added 100 HP for little cost over a standard parts build. Use ARP studs instead of torque to yield head bolts, worth the cost too.
- Which of the three truck company's last the longest? Ford, Chevy, or GMC? I'm 18 and my dad is getting me my first vehicle and wants me to drive a truck. Here in Texas drivers are a little crazy, lol. He's looking into trucks that are between the 10k-20k range. Which of the three last longest?
- Sexist chevrolet commercial where they throw in Delores? Three men can have a choice of a Chevy, or a ford with a little trailer, satellite, and they throw in Delores, who looks to be Native American? Is she supposed to be a slave, hooker? Shame on Chevrolet.
- Have 98 Ford Ranger, 4.0, 171,000 miles, auto trans with limited slip. I've owned truck since new and have changed trans fluid every 30-35 000 miles and have never towed anything. The majority of the 171,000 miles are interstate driving. The truck shifts fine with no jerking or slippage. What I do get is thump(s) in rear end when I come to a stop, as gears are downshifting. Do I need a new transmission? Any suggestions? I suppose it's a "clunk" I hear and feel when I come to a stop, not a thump.
- Pink Ford emblem for tailgate? I'm looking for a pink Ford emblem for the back of my trucks tailgate. i've asked a few people in person and they told me "ford is blue, leave it blue" and i've found something on amazon that is a peel and stick… Is that right?: http://www.amazon.com/...00L4GAEXM/ if not, where else can i get one?
