Will an LS3 fit inside of a 2007 mustang v6?
Will an LS3 engine fit in a 2007 mustang v6 with light to almost no modifying of the body and chassis? Ok, so I know that it sounds stupid and that an LS3 is a chevy engine, but I LOVE chevy but also LOVE the mustang that ford makes… Anything else, I hate what ford makes I want to do an engine swap. I think it would 1 be AWESOME to throw and replace my v6 engine with an engine thats made by chevy that would have a ton of horse power, 2 be funny as hell, and 3, have a mixture of both car companies in one vehicle. But i'm debating on whether I should get an LS3 or not because i'm just looking for something that would take little to almost no modifying of the chassis or anything of that matter. I just want the engine instead of a 5.0 or another type of ford engine. I love the ls3 engine. It would be awsome, but I just don't know if it would fit and I would need to replace, cut, weld, whatever, to the car. I don't want to do that. That would take too much time, and cost way too much money. I mean if it was to cost only about $4000 for labor or just the modifying, that would be something that I could consider, but if it would be around $6500 or more JUST for mods of the body/chassis, thats way too much for what I want. Tell me what you guys think, whether its a good idea or not and should just stick to a 5.0 or whatever. Give me your opinions and suggestions. I'm just trying to make my car fast.something I could take to the drags but is also street legal and makes a nice Daily Driver.
It would fit, but you would literally need to replace the entire front suspension and subframe to do it, not to mention completely rewiring the chassis. If you can't weld, well, it would cost more than $10k. Your best bet would be to trade the car in.
Oh, and FYI, the LS3 is junk. I beat them constantly with a little 4.6 Ford.
As far as external dimensions are concerned, the LS3 is more compact than the SOHC 4.6L V8 Ford put in that generation of Mustangs, so getting one to fit between the fenderwells shouldn't be a problem.
However, you are also going to need a Chevrolet transmission, new engine & transmission mounts, and the computer an wiring harness from the same donor car as the engine.
This will be a very expensive swap. It can be done with enough money, but my suggestion would be to either get a Camaro SS that came from the factory with an LS3, or a Mustang GT with a Ford V8. It will cost less, and either way, your resale value will be higher on a car with the original engine.
- What's the largest engine I could fit inside of a 2004 Ford Ranger Edge 2D that has a 3.0 L V6? I'm thinking maybe a Chevy 327, but that would require a lot of work as making room or getting and Chevy transmission to go with the Chevy 327. On the other hand I could put a Ford 286 or 302 in there supercharge that **** up and it would be a monster.
- How to figure out if an engine can fit inside a car? How can i tell which engines fit in which cars. Basically i wanna build up and upgrade an engine until i feel good with it then when i have enough money to restore an old car, i'll drop the engine into the older car. For example i could build up a 90's camaro then brop it in an older car, example-69 mustang
- Can you fit a 11-14 mustang gt exhaust on a 14 mustang v6? To make it fit what would I need and would it sound the same I wanted to get the ford racing gt500 style
- Can 1979 Ford mustang tail lights fit a 83-86 mustang? I like the 1979 mustang tail lights, but prefer the front end of the 1983-86 front end (little more sleaker). I have heard they can and also heard the can't because of how the lights and wiring fix in to the body.
