What would be some of the best options for installing a powerful engine in my 2000 Mustang?
Okay. So I have a 2000 V6 Mustang and the car is in really good shape. I have renewed it, it has a new paint job and a lot of new parts but it has a V6 engine. I'm interested in installing a V8 engine, and I know it would take a lot of work. I would have to replace the engine, transmission, exhaust, and reprogram the electrical systems. I was wondering how hard it would be to actually get all that done? I was hoping I could eventually have an engine with around 500 horsepower. Does Ford still have Saleen or Cobra Engines in stock for a 2000 year Mustang?
How much money you have? Crated 500hp coyote is $16,000

Power to the people.
To dump all that money into a v6 mustang isn't worth it… You'll spend just as much money as your would have to buy an 03-04 cobra. And the cobra will maintain it's resale value A LOT better.
What is your budget?
Don't forget to upgrade the springs, driveline, brakes, etc.
Going to cost more than just buying a v8?
If money is no object and you don't mind taking the hit in your wallet then go right ahead and do that
Otherwise it would cheaper and easier to just sell it as a good running V6 and put that money towards a GT cause it would cost more the price difference the cars just to swap all that stuff in even you had a donor car w/ motor.
They do steel have 03-04 Terminator engines for sale check on eBay it would cost you about 3k to 8k or more
Buying a 2000 mustang with a v-8 engine
- Any tricks to installing a tranny filter on a 2000 ford taurus? I got it out but the new one won't go back in. There's a lip it seems to be to big to get past. I tryed oil.
- Sporty but powerful trucks? I'm a truck guy which means I like the power and durability of a truck but I also like to go fast like you would in a car. Are there any trucks that have a mix of the two performances? I've been looking at the Ford Raptor, but I can't find any others. Anyone know something like the raptor?
- Why can't powerful cars tow like trucks can? I don't know if this a dumb question, but I don't understand why you can't, I know you aren't supposed to but why. If my 230 hp Ford Ranger can tow 6000lbs, why can't the 845 hp dodge demon tow something, it has way more hp, way more torque and 2 more cylinders. Does it have something to do with the suspension not being able to hold the weight or what?
- Do you think the Brand New Ford ranger needs more engine options? I think the 2.3 Ecoboost is very capable, but in many cases, stronger engines distinguish more premium (or) sportier trims from the Base trim. Do you feel that higher priced trims need a V6 to compete against others in the segment?
