What can I do if I got a speeding ticket when it was another car speeding?

I was driving along I-235 in Wichita, KS near the West street exit at 1:00 am when a highway patrolman was running radar. The speed limit is 65mph and I know I was driving ~67mph. Another vehicle passes me and about two miles later, the patrolman pulls up behind me and flashes his lights. I was driving a 2014 Ford Mustang gt, which makes me think that the officer thought I was the speeder due to me driving what many would believe to be a fast car. The officer came up to me window, told me I was going 79mph (14mph over) and asked for my licence and insurance. He didn't ask me if I was speeding or allow me to even defend myself. Just told me I was speeding and asked where I was coming from and going to. He went back to his vehicle, and after a feature minutes came back to my car, issued me a tiicket and told me to have a good night and walked away. If you need anymore details to properly answer this question, please ask.

Well you can go to court and say you was not speeding and then the officer will have to show proof that you was
and if your right you will walk out having been cleared
but I will bet that you was speeding a lot more than you care to admit

1. You WERE speeding, or you ARE lying. (67 in a 65 zone is speeding.)
2. You can plea not guilty in court, but the officer CAN prove he clocked you, not the other vehicle.

Your first mistake was remaining silent
silence is agreement

[ I was what? Sorry officer, I was going the limit and you should have pulled over the car that passed me about 2 miles back ]

you just may have to eat this ticket…

Here's news: you were speeding. You admit to going 67 in a 65 - and that is enough to write you a citation. The 14 mph over sounds like a 12 mph dispute between you and the officer. Let the judge straighten that out. "I was breaking the law, but not as badly as the officer said." - Stuart

  • Listed as driving an ATV on my speeding ticket when I was driving a Truck? I live in Minnesota and received a speeding ticket yesterday. When I looked it over it said the vehicle was an ATV. I was driving a Ford Truck. Is this how they list all trucks on tickets or did the officer make a mistake. The citation was correct just not the type of vehicle.
  • If a car causes another car to swerve and spin-out, is it considered hit-and-run if they leave the scene? On the way to work this morning, I saw a Ford truck cut off a smaller car and the poor car spun out in the rain and ended up facing the opposite direction. This caused the traffic to stop because it looked like the vehicle wouldn't start. The ford truck most likely knew he did that but kept going, instead of stopping. He didn't hit the car or any cars at all during the time. If he didn't actually hit anything, is it still considered hit and run? Should he have stopped?
  • Speeding Ticket in Georgia with Incorrect Information? I received a speeding ticket last night in Dekalb County off Briarcliff rd a little after the Fox5 station. The officer said I was doing 55 in a 35. When I asked him to show me the laser it said I was doing 54. My biggest issue the car information is completely wrong. I drive an 08 Ford focus light blue with Missouri tags. The ticket says 04 Nissan Maxima SE Black with Georgia tags and the tag numbers don't even match mine. Do I have a chance of fighting this ticket?
