How much would car insurance cost for a recently turned 18 year old with a 2009 Ford Mustang in Georgia and how to make it cheaper?

The car costs $9,000. I need the car as fast as possible so I can drive to college.

Probably more than the car. An 18 year old driving a Mustang (you don't even give the engine size) is a terrible risk for an insurance company. They don't want that business, so if they're going to insure you they'll make sure it's worth their while.
Don't even THINK about putting it under your parants' name because that's insurance fraud.
Get a small car with a small engine.

Ask 10 different agencies, and you'll get 10 different answers. All HIGH. No one here can tell you.

Ask insurance agents not random strangers here.
It will be very high.
Driving fast will get you tickets and your rates will shoot up.
In the wet handling the xar needs a lot of skill and experience. At 18 you do not have that. Insurance companies know that.

Why does using the car to go to college entail making it go faster? Every car on the road can exceed the speed limit with no modifications. If you get a Mustang with a 6 cylinder, it will be less to insure than an 8 cylinder. If you pay for the car outright, you only need no-fault insurance, which is cheap, but if you wreck and it's your fault, you get nothing. If you get a car loan you are required to have full coverage, which would cost a lot more, particularly for an 18 year old with a sports car.

And your insurance will go up if you get tickets. At your age, you should be getting a practical car. IF you really want to save money, get a used sedan, like a Camry or an Accord. They are sort of boring, but if you get one with a v-6, they are surprisingly quick, and still get about 30 MPG. Not to mention, an 18 year old in a Mustang screams "STOP ME!" to the cops. No one pays any attention to Camry's and Accords. Get decent grades, complete college, get a good job, and you have the rest of your life to get the kind of car you want, as opposed to now, where it's best to get the kind of car you need.

It will be expensive! Call around and get quotes.

The insurance premiums on a Mustang for an 18 year old will cost somewhere between
and

To make your insurance cheaper, get the Camry. You'll save about a grand a year on insurance, and gas and upkeep will be much cheaper.

It will be a lot, and I mean a lot. Not so much because Mustang, but very much because 18. You're looking at anywhere from an arm & a leg to Jesus Christ are you joking, possibly even higher.

How to make it cheaper is to get older and don't crash into anything.

NADA help in determining the cost of ownership. One of the items is insurance cost. It will only be an estimate, but it is a good starting spot. The cost of insurance depends on where the car is "parked" generally considered the place of residence and driving experience. Some 18 year olds have a few years driving experience, other have none. For example I did not actually get a drivers license till I was almost 20. The reason was I was in college and didn't need a car.
What I could find out would be invalid, for one I do not know how many years you have been driving or the exact zip code that would be used by the insurance company.
It might be less then some cars (the Honda Civic for example can be very expensive to insure if the person lives in a metro area), but (depending on engine) very expensive (2009 Ford Mustang Bullit).

It would cost whatever the insurance company that you choose charges you after you get quotes from as many insurance companies as you can bear.
You can make it cheaper by cutting coverage's and/or coverage limits.

Reading your comment that you thought the Mustang would be cheaper to insure than the Camry because it's a cheaper car is highly flawed. Liability insurance does not insure the car itself, only the damage you might do with it. For example you could probably get a beater C4 Corvette for 5-6K and it would cost twice as much to insure as a new Corolla.
