I'm 17, how much will the insurance on a 1973 Ford Mustang cost? UK?
I have a clean record, no crashing etc. Recently bought a 1973 Ford Mustang. But I haven't got in insured as of yet. I'd be grateful if someone could give me a rough estimation on how much the insurance would cost?
You bought it before finding out the cost to insure? Huge mistake. When you find out the cost you'll be selling the car.
A Mustang at 17. Not a hope. Most companies won't even quote you.
Alot!
OMG you bought what. Where?!
OK… Ok…
well… FIRST thing's first, and the first thing is what we tell all american kids who buy mustangs… That there's no way random strangers online will even be able to guess what it will cost cause there are too many factors involved. However we can say with absolutely certainty THAT IT WILL DEFINITELY BE A LOT!
SECOND, the facts are that MODERN mustangs are expensive enough for teen drivers but you're not only talking about a novice teenage driver with a mustang here, but you're talking about complete novice driver WITH A CLASSIC MUSTANG (which means it will be even MORE expensive)
that also happens to be the longest/largest body styles of the 1st gen, And a car that DOES NOT have modern safety features like airbags and crumple zones, reversing cameras/sensors (which it could definitely use) and in all likelihood will not even have basic stuff like 4-wheel disc brakes (it could be disc/drum or just drum brakes all around!
I can tell you it will also get horrible gas mileage especially by european standards
(given you're all hardcore green party AND pay MORE for gas then we do in US)
And then you've also got to deal with the fact that you're not even in the US though it's still probably going to be LHD and I would think that it may SERIOUSLY be too big for UK roads AND a lot of places in UK towns/villages too. Visibility may also be an issue (especially if it's a sportsroof/fastback)
I'm sorry kid, though you only asked about insurance and I know you didn't want a lecture, as someone who has actually owned one of those cars AND has also been to the UK many times to visit relatives (and knows what the most areas are like over there) the fact that you would buy this car as a first car without even really thinking about it at all just blows me away.
Because even though I've been driving for a lot longer than you I would still be scared to death to drive the one I had on some UK roads (mainly for the SIZE and VISIBILITY issues) Even as much as I loved driving mine ON WEEKENDS (in the US where it fits on the roads) I WOULD NOT recommend driving those cars as DD's anywhere and DEFINITELY not get a teenager any kind of mustang as a first car… PERIOD!
So I personally think you have ROYALLY SCREWED UP HERE!
I think you need to start calling around and start getting quotes NOW! But be prepared for more bad news, and really try start thinking of a way you can get another car that's a bit more sensible than this! Even if you have to sell it (and it might be hard to sell in the UK too)
- What is the current value of a 1973 Ford Mustang Grande? As above it's a 351 CLEVELAND - 4 BARRELL - DUAL EXHAUST - REBUILT TRANSMISSION (MUSCLE CAR SHOP) REBUILT REAR-END & OF COURSE, SMOG EXEMPT. NEED COSMETIC & INTERIOR WORK.
- Insurance cost for a 2000 Ford Mustang? I'm 17 years old and this would be my first car. By the time I'll have enough to actually get the car I'll have had my license for about 2 months. I realize there are a lot of factors that go into insurance rates but could somebody give me a price range for this type of car?
- Cost of insurance for 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe V8? I'm 16 and i just got my license. I have a job and i was looking for a car. My dad has a 1966 Ford Mustang V8 Coupe that he offered to give me and in mint condition. I was so happy. I was think of paying as much as i can of the insurance. Can you please tell me the price (estimate)? Don't feed me BS saying that shouldn't be your first car and all of that. Thats the only car I'm getting and the only car i want. All i need is the price and if its a good car.
- Will the price of a 1973 ford bronco go up when the new model comes out in 2020? I'm looking at trading my jeep commander for a 1973 bronco thats redone and looks really clean. The price posted for it is 25000 and I was wondering if that price would eventually go up if I kept it in the shape that it is in.
