I've got a problem with my 1987 ford truck's gas gauge?
So I replaced the float in the sending unit, but when it got put back together the gauge reads over full all the time, what could it be?
You somehow wired the + connection (instead of the float's signal) to the signal wire.
You may have to get a new car.
Not grounded properly. It takes a good ground to insure resistance in the circuit to bring the gauge needle back down. Without a GRD it will read full all the time (zero resistance).
Float got stuck.
Check the ground strap that completes the circuit for the sending unit most times if that ground strap is not making contact or is missing the result is usually it will always read as full So most likely its a ground issue
- I was getting gas in my 94 ford ranger EXTCAB and gas was pouring out under truck? How do I see if its the fuel neck? I used a tiny auto camera to stick all the way down the gas neck and didn't see any holes
- Gas gauge issues 2001 ford ranger 2wd manual 3.0 engine. 12 gallon gas tank? The gas gauge fluctuates between 3/8 and 7/8 somewhat correlating to the amount of gas in my tank but it isn't accurate. What can i do to try and fix this problem? I'm hoping it isn't the float in the gas tank and would like to cover everything else before i drop my gas tank. additional information will be added as requested Gas gauge problems? 2001 ford ranger with a 3.0 engine manual transmission and a 12 gallon gas tank
- 89 Ford Ranger gas gauge is stuck? I haven't actually made a serious effort to fix the problem, but when I do where would be a good place to start?
- 1996 ford ranger gas gauge not working? Alright… My gas gauge sets right at the top of the E when moving, but when i turn the vehicle off, it will read right under the quarter tank line, than right back to E when it gets turned back on. Would this lean more to the sending unit in the tank or a bad gauge? Fuse is good. Figured i would rather ask before trying either option.
