I just did routine maintenence to my car?

My car sat for about a year if not longer so I wanted to do a complete tune up to my car I filled the gas tank up put (bg's 44k) in my tank replaced my spark plugs and wires did a complete oil change I put a quart of oil in my oil filter but do to the pain in the *** area of my oil filter it all spilled out I put 4 quarts in it and a quart of lucas oil stabilizer when I turned it overt it sputters and feels like it's misfiring I'm stumped I checked the wires twice to make sure they were all in the right place I have a 96 ford thunderbird with a 4.6 l in it any thoughts? I'm all ears

The oil filter on the ford 4.6 engine threads in horizantally first off, so filling it up completely beforehand is dumb. Second, it doesn't hold a full quart of oil. Even higher performance filters like KN only hold up to a half quart. Now as for your starting problem, there's probably old gas still in the fuel lines from the previous year. You will have to purge that by depressing the Schrader valve on the fuel rail and let the old fuel spray out. Be sure you have a rag wrapped around the valve so it catches the fuel. Key off and on again to make the fuel pump re-prime the line and depress the valve again to purge more fuel. Do this about 4 or 5 times until you know fur sure that fresh fuel is getting to the injectors.
