How to unplug a car door actuator?
I have a 98 ford falcon and the central locking doesn't work, the locks automatically go down and up again. The same happens if I do it manually.
I think it is an actuator problem. How do I unplug the actuator so that I can manually lock the doors (I'm ok being able to just manually lock them so don't want to replace the actuators).
You pull the door panels off and disconnect the wiring connector at each actuator.
How else would you think you'd do it? Magic? Gnomes?
I presume you are in Australia or similar ( we don't have any 98 falcons in the US )… The issue may be that the lock mechanisms need to be lubricated, which if you have mechanical ability, you can do yourself by removing the inner door panels
There's a fuse that doesn't do anything but power the door lock actuators. Not sure which one it it on Oz Falcons.
If all the doors lock and unlock it may be the drivers door actuator causing the problem. You need to take the drivers door panel off and unplug the actuator.
- Where can I get a door actuator? I have a Mercury Villager 2002. I need to replace a door actuator but unfortunately Ford does not make the part any more. I do not know how to work on cars and to find things at junk yards. How can I go about getting the part? My mechanic says he can't find the part…
- Can i unplug my mass air flow sensor to get my cold air intake to work better on my 2015 ford taurus? When i put the cold air intake on my car it went really slow so if I unplug the sensor would it fix that problem
- Had my ford transit broken into, door peeled in half, what would people recommend, van alarm or deadlocks and door strengthening? My van door was peeled in Half from top to bottom and cleared of everything inside. I'm thinking of getting an alarm that will go off if van is shaken or movement inside but I think this might be too late and the door damage done. Would I be better off getting visual locks for thief's to see then have my door reinforced inside out by my friend who's a welder.
- Why does my car door unlock after I lock it? When I rent cars (most recently, a Toyota Prius and a Ford Fusion), I'm frustrated because I'll lock the doors, both from the inside and from the key fob, but when I check to make sure that they're locked, they will unlock when I touch the handle. What causes this? Do they unlock if the key fob is within a certain range? When I lock the doors, I want them to stay locked!
