How long a car dealership have to give me keys after my car financing has been approved?

I got approved for my car financing this morning, I signed the paperwork yesterday, I have the bill of sale that I signed before the loan was approved to state that the car will belong to me as soon as I have been approved and the car does need it's safety and e-test before I can actually drive it off the lot as it's a used vehicle. How long does the dealership have? I've had people tell me that it should have already been done and I get keys as soon as I'm approved and others tell me it can take up to 48 hours after being approved. Anyone know? If it helps it's a Ford Dealership and I'm in Ontario.

I expect they await confirmation that the finance is in place. Dealers are careful people who avoid fraud.

The only way to get the actual answer to your question is call the salesman that sold you the car and ask him. We have no way of knowing how they run their operation and neither does anyone else unless they work there.

Did you ask them?

If you were "really" preapproved, you would drive out with it that day.

Preappoved often means "we will accept your credit application".
