Help on choosing a classic car?
I'm looking to get a classic car as my first car! I know quite a bit about classic cars and I love them all! I also know people who are specialists so they could help me also… I'm just unsure on what car I want! I want something that isn't too expensive ( £4000 - £5000 max including Dixon it up and the cost of the vehicle ) I want something that stands out from the crowd and that is just really cool! I really like old trucks ( ford F100 and chevy 3100 ) the vehicles don't have to be in perfect condition I like the "rough" look but can only find decent ones in America! I live in the uk and am prepared to travel within the country if I find a good project! I could do most of the work myself or get someone I know and we could do the whole car without help so that is not a problem… I just need ideas on what kind of cars that look good, are different, sound good and are practical! It doesn't have to be fast but I would want it to cruise at 60ish mph.
This is my suggestion
From the states. Many classic project vehicles can be found on Ebay.com at no cost to search. I recommend you keep a secret cause to much exposure may lead to a bad bargain, scam if you understand. The word multitask comes to mind as you search you will require a method of shipping, export and import. The vehicle I would want to import is a japanese 1993-98 toyota supra turbo. Too expensive here yet Canada and the UK have the very car. And the USA says no this vehicle has to be 25 years old to import.
With this said please search unafraid.
£5k will get you a decent TVR350i, nothing sounds better.
Really depends on taste and desire. Simply check out classic car selling sites. Pop along to couple of local classic car meeting etc. We can look and if asking nicely sit in them. Ask questions and get a better idea of cars we want to own and use.
Hi the problem is your a new driver and insurance is likely to be loaded as these cars tend to have big engines. So that rules out most of them.
then after a few years of gaining so no claims bonuses there would be a chance a reduced insurance premiums would make it more l likely you could afford one.
- Why don't car companies remake some of their classic car models if people like them so much? Of course safety is in mind because everyone would freak out if they didn't have a seat belt and air bags in every inch of the car, but why can't some of the companies just remake their best selling car models? Dodge could remake their 1948 Sedan and Ford could remake their 1949 Custom. I could list more but I can't think of any more classics.
- Which classic car is bigger? My dad has a 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 Conv. I made a wise crack to him one time that I wanted a 1958 Plymouth Fury (Christine). He said that that the car was bigger then the Galaxie. But I was at work today and said something to a co-worker and they said the Fury is a good deal smaller then the Galaxie. I never got to see a '58 Fury in person so I was wanting to know, thanks.
- Where in the UK can I hire a classic american car for self drive, ie, as driver not passenger? I want to hire a classic car preferably something like a dodge charger or ford 69 gto for a day or two as a gift to a petrol head, obviously I want him to be able to drive the car himself. We're London based but could be in surrounding areas to pick up the car.
- What's Christine Blasey Fords prime motivation for choosing now to speak out? 36 years is an awful long time to hold your peace. i understand a woman would need time to get over such an ordeal but 36 years? is it purely to stop Kavanaugh getting a highly prestigious job? Hes been vetted and taken many highly prestigous jobs before this 1 over the last 36 years what's her prime motivation for the timing of her accusation?
