Has any of you guys put power steering on 1957 ford fairlane?

I has not.

No, I have not! The parts should be out there (Dennis Carpenter Ford comes to mind) to install a factory power steering in a car that did not have it stock.

No

Nope
My 57 came with it

Never done it personally, but the parts should be relatively easy to obtain. Almost all the same parts from 1955 (or perhaps even earlier) to at least 1962 from Fords, Mercurys, Edsels or Lincolns should fit, Almost 100% of them can safely & easily be bought used from scrap yards or ever from a farmer with a car sitting in a field.

I used them for a couple of parts for my '59 Skyliner. They were good, fast, well-priced & reliable.

No, I just took it off a Chevy.
Post us pix when your thru restoring her.

  • If my power steering pump and pulley break, is there any other parts I may have to potentially replace? Last night when I was driving, my power steering pump busted and also broke my power steering pulley. I have a 2002 ford Taurus. In the process of the pulley breaking off, the serpentine belt came off. It is still on the car so I just have to re position it once the new pulley is on. My question is through this incident, could anything else have broken? I just did a bypass pulley for the AC compressor last week. And I also replaced the serpentine belt last week.
  • Fixing up 1957 ford fairlane? So my dad and I want to fix up his first car that we have at his old house. Its gonna need a new engine, so i was wondering if LS1 swapping would be viable? What is an ideal engine to throw in it, also we're interested in swapping the transmission to a manual to make it a little more interesting. Any estimates on how much it would cost?
  • Can I put Comma PSF power steering fluid in my 52 plate Ford Fiesta 1.6 Ghia? As above, the manual says use fluid meeting WSA-M2C 195A in but I can't find anywhere if the comma PSF stuff is okay, and have now bought it but don't wanna put it in if it will ruin the system!
  • What happens if you use the same bottle you put gas in to put water in your radiator? I accidentally used the same bottle I put gas in to put water in my 99 Ford Explorer radiator and now it's been over heating non stop, I'm on the side of the highway now. The water comes out brown and gooey and I bought Prestone Flush+Cleaner, twice I followed the steps and it still overheats and the brown gooey stuff, oh yea and I'm not sure if this is bad but there's white smoke coming out of the exhaust
