Is Ford going to layoff more people and close factories?

"Ford (F) said on Wednesday the only passenger car models it plans to keep on the market in North America will be the Mustang and the upcoming Ford Focus Active, a crossover-like hatchback that's slated to debut in 2019.
That means the Fiesta, Taurus, Fusion and the regular Focus will disappear in the United States and Canada."

People who would have bought the models that do not sell very well would then buy something else that is popular, and those other vehicle will have to be made *somewhere*.

It is like when consumer electronic companies stopped making plasma TV, they started making OLED ones instead, making the same number of TV but of a different model.

Probably, but maybe not.

They might use the factories and workers to make more trucks, SUVs, etc.
