I'm concerned about the way I drive my car

I live in a desolate part of New Mexico, and I often commute for hours of a time. I regularly push my car at speeds of 90mph+ for several hours nonstop. I'm wondering if this will have any negative effect on my vehicle. (For context, I own a new Ford Fusion)

Even if there's no visible speed limit signs, you would be smart to NOT drive at those high rate of speeds! Why, you ask? Because if you have an accident, you will have a better chance of injuring your self + totalling the vehicle

Pushing your car beyond the limits of its intended function will shorten the life of your car. No one over at Ford will have thought to design a car that would go 90+ for hours at a time five days a week. Maybe a German carmaker would have, but not Ford.

The most dangerous thing about what your doing is the heat in the tires which if not rated for that kind of sustained speed can cause them to burst or blow out. The rest of the vehicle should have no problem with the speed although as Eric The Woodshed noted it will shorten the life of the vehicles wear parts like bearings, driveshafts and fluids. Without external coolers for engine and transmission oils the fluids can exceed design limits and cause abnormal wear to the internals. I live in West Texas where it is just as hot and know what it is like in the desert heat. If you put gauges in and want to know what the limits are, typically engine oil shouldn't exceed 235 degrees and transmissions shouldn't exceed 200 degrees for an extended period although it can for short periods without problem. If your fusion has the ecoboost engine it has an oil cooler and trans cooler, but without knowing the actual temperature your shooting in the dark as far as durability goes. Bottom line, Keep an eye on the fluids and tires and you should be ok

Properly maintained to the manufacturers standards the car will be OK. Sustained cruising speeds are in fact better for the engine that lots of slowing down and accelerating.

Just keep it properly maintained.

Have you fell asleep whilst driving> it's the easiest thing to do, I used to drive trucks a bit difference to a car, think about my answer before it's too late.

Do you work for Los Pollos Hermanos?

I wouldn't recommend driving that fast
