What would you say is a good car for a 6'1 driver?
Currently I drive a Ford Fiesta and I'm looking to trade it in because I'm over paying on it and after a year of owning it, I've never been able to get fully comfortable in the drivers seat. The seat is too low to the ground, and if I raise it up, I lose headroom. Also, the seat cushion themselves are too short so there's like an inch of a gap where there's no support between my knee and my thighs while I'm driving, which is uncomfortable. Should I go for a compact car (like Ford Focus, Kia Forte, Nissan Sentra) or a midsize sedan (Kia optima, Nissan Altima, Ford Fusion)?
Added (1). Actually my car is a SUBcompact. There's quite a bit of a difference. The seats in a compact car like the focus are much bigger than the ones in my Fiesta. When I drove my sisters Altima, I was extremely comfortable.
You seem to be somewhat of an idiot. You have a compact car and you're considering another one?
An altima, because that was test driven and found extremly comfortable.
Why not go to a couple car lots and sit in a few?
A sub-compact car is certainly not a good choice for a tall driver. In general, the larger the car, the more room you'll have. Furthermore, a cheap car will have cheap seats. Pay more money and you get better more comfortable, adjustable seats. You get what you pay for.
Go to a dealer and sit in a few cars.
My wife is 6'2" and has plenty of leg room/head room in both her New Beetle (older non-squashed) and surprisingly she is also comfortable in my little Fortwo.
I'm 6-6 and my 2012 Mazda 3 suits me just fine. Except the back seat. There's no way I would want to ride in the back seat.
Often there's a big difference between a compact and a subcompact. Lots of people with subcompacts are not happy with them with time.
That said, I dealt in low end cars for 12 years and I sold a fair number of them. Their appeal is the low prices.
None of them were terribly uncomfortable except for a ford tempo where the seat wouldn't go back. It was repairable but I didn't bother and the short Mexican that bought it was fine with it.
6-1 and you should be able to manage even a subcompact.
Is this a situation of champagne taste and beer budget?
Suck it up, double or triple up on payments for 8-12 months and you may be able to trade out of it.
But you lose a ton of value whenever you trade so don't be in a hurry to trade.
In fact, after I retired from being a car dealer, I didn't trade cars for 12 years. Finally got rid of the 94 Buick last year and upgraded to my mazda. I'm happy with it… Except for a week ago when I got a flat on the interstate and kept driving, ruined my tire and cost me nearly $100. Freak thing. Must have run over a screw or something. In the daylight, I would have attempted to change it on the side of the road. But not at night in the dark. I should probably keep a flashlight in there but I don't.
- Would 2015 Ford Mustang GT be good as a daily driver in the city? Just wondering. Also want to know if the 2015 Corvette Stingray would be good as a daily driver in the city (probably not) but I want to know some reasons why the corvette is good/bad as a daily driver and the mustang.
- Good first car for new driver? I'm almost 16 and my parents want your opinions. Would a 2005 Ford Mustang (not a gt) be an okay car for a teen? Or would there be too much power? Also if you have a mustang: How fast do they go? Any reoccurring problems linked to mustangs?
- Would a ford fusion be a good car for a first time driver like me? This would be my first car I ever had and I don't know how to drive yet but I'm gonna take driving lesson before I even get a car PS I already have my learner permit
- What would be a good first car to get that you can get used Like, ford fusion, camri, civic, etc. These are just some examples, this is my first car and I'm not sure what to look for.
