Wrong power steering fluid?
Hi, I have an automatic Ford Focus 05, I bought a generic power steering fluid, but have now realised I need power steering fluid ATF… However have already put the other stuff in. What do I do now?!
There are websites with info to help you; here is one - http://www.aa1car.com/library/power_steering_fluid.htm… Look at the sections for "POWER STEERING FLUID APPLICATIONS" and also "HOW TO CHANGE POWER STEERING FLUID"… If you read the label on the fluid you used, and it's a type listed in the power steering fl. Apps, then you might be OK… And if you need to have the fluid changed, then it would probably be a shop to do the work unless you know how to do it… Be careful that some place does not try to talk you into an expensive power steering fluid flush!
- WHAT WRONG? No lecture$. LHF brakes metal to metal week+ Today pedal goes to floor No brake power until almost bottom out Fluid not low? 05 AWD Ford Freestyle. Besides grinding all around brakes were fine. Now noise is close to negligible. Replacing Front pads/rotors tomorrow. A must to bleed now? Air in system? Caliper?
- 2001 Ford Taurus power steering fluid leak? My husband bought a new power steering pump and installed it last week, but when he added the power steering fluid it leaked out almost immediately. Any idea of what would cause this?
- Power steering pump burning fluid? I have a 1991 Ford Ranger. The engine was rebuilt so its at around 70,000 miles. I have to refill the power steering fluid a lot. Way more often then I should have to. I can't see any kind of a leak at all and no evidence of one. It also smells horribly burnt. Almost like the pump is just burning through the fluid. Any suggestions or ideas as to what this is and a possible fix?
- Where is my power steering fluid resevoir? I drive a 2002 ford Mustang gt v8 and I'm trying to find my power steering resevoir. I can't seem to see it anywhere under my hood? Any help?
