Will I be denied a Federal loan?

I'm in my second year at school. My COA calculated by the financial aid office is 20k. I reviewed 9,800 in grants. I'm applying for a federal loan for $2000 to help with boarding expenses, so I don't have to work full time and can focus on studies more (my grade were slipping badly working full time.) what are the odds I will get approved for my loan? We participate in the William Ford loan program.

You will be approved for the loan, assuming that you are otherwise eligible for federal financial aid and that the total amount you want to borrow, plus other aid that you receive, does not exceed the COA. If your COA is $20,000 and you've only received $9,800 in other aid, then you should be able to receive a $2,000 loan.

Direct Stafford loans ( the most common federal student loan) are based solely on dependency status (independent or dependent) and grade level, so as long as the loan fits within your COA, you will be approved.
