What should I do? P0507, P0300,P0304,P0171?
Okay here is my problem. I have a Ford Focus 2003 2.0L SPI engine and I got a check engine light on. When my friend put the scanner, I got four codes. P0507, P0300, P0304, P0171. I really don't know what to do anymore because I changed the manifold, the whole catalytic converter and the muffler. On top of that, when I'm driving at 40mph, my car starts to jerk(skip) a little. That happens everytime I hit 40 mph but once I'm at 50mph it stops skipping. What should I do? What do each code mean?
Please help me out.
Added (1). Oh and I just cleaned the Mass Air Flow sensor and the air filter.
You're going about this backwards. I don't understand why you would fix the cat converter before fixing the misfires. Unless the cat was plugged (which itself is caused by misfires) the cat can't CAUSE misfires.
The P0171 can cause misfires. Both the P0171 and P0507 can be caused by vacuum leaks.
Start by checking the spark plugs and coils and all vacuum hoses and intake gaskets. If they check out, do a compression check to rule out mechanical issues.
I changed the Cat because it was messed up.
Well you have a high idle speed, with a random misfire, misfire on #4 and it's running lean… Vacuum leak? Crankcase ventilation tube or valve? Did you change the intake manifold?
Here's a site that has that tells you what to do for each code, http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/
AutoZone has loaner advanced scan/diagnostic tool, so instead of just reading the codes, you can read sensors input/output and control things like idle air control motor, to see what's wrong. Good Luck, remember basics first, all vacuum lines good, all intake air connections tight from the filter box all the way to the head, all maintenance items in good working order, ( like pvc valve, and spark plugs changed when required)
- P0300 Code on Ford Taurus but car runs fine? Hi, i have a 2006 ford taurus, only has 55,000 miles on her, and all of the sudden this code popped up on me today. The car had been driving fine, and still does. Definitely have not felt it missfire or buck at all. Despite a small exhaust leak, everything on the car is in great condition and has been running great. Should i be worried and does it need a fix?
- Could a clogged fuel filter cause a code P0300 to go off in my 2004 ford taurus? My engine light went on. Got it checked at autozone and P0300 came up. My fuel gauge is also going nuts. I ll put $20 in which would give me a half tank. But I ll start the car and it will be at full, then I ll start the car later that day and it will be at three quarters. It is different literally everytime I start the car… I have no idea how much gas I have.
- Code p0171 for 1996 ford ranger 2.3L xl 4cyl Was running rough in idle i would give gas and it would get stuck in higher rpm check engine light came after awhile and it started running fine all on its own hooked up computer reader and got code p0171 system to lean bank 1 can't find a vacuum leak anywhere could it be the IAC or EGR valve?
- What RPM should my car idle while driving and what RPM should I shift? I have a 2003 Ford Mustang V6. 5 speed manual transmission. This is not the first manual car I've owned, but I'm curious. I never really look but I've read in some places that in order to save gas you should shift at 2 RPM before I used to shift at around 3-3.5 RPM. Also what's a good RPM my car should idle at while I'm in gear? Let's say I'm driving in 3rd gear. What's the ideal RPM to stay at before needing to shift.
