What should be my first car?

So i'm 18 and got manual driving license from the first time i've been driving for 4 months and i believe i'm good drive…
i'm going for college and i'm going to be using that car so should i get new car or used one? Assuming its a new one my father is looking at Chevrolet cruze, i have looked on the internet and reviews say mazda3 or ford-focus is better choice my father said ford are **** and not good and he doesn't like mazda (he wants cruze) what do you think?
Or should i get used car for the same price (old bmw or mustang) :P

You should get a used car, but not a BMW or Mustang. The ownership costs on those cars are too high.

Because you are an amateur driver, you need something disposable. Get $5000 Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic. It's better than crashing a $16,000 car, right? And 4 months in not enough to call yourself a good driver. It takes 2-3 years to get off that learning curve.

I think you should be happy with any car your Dad buys you! Stay away from the older "Luxury Brands" as maintenance and repairs can be costly and many are not as reliable as they should be.

Evo
Wrx
Skylines
Supras
Rx7
S2000
Nsx
3000gt

If you want to get a fun enjoyable car then stay away from hondas (aside from the s2000 or nsx) , Volkswagen, an acuras.

If your gonna go american go with muscle!

Civic SI, Toyota Corolla, Scion TC, Some Cobalts are decent. For a Chevy. )

Personally I wouldn't buy a Cruze. It's been recalled too many times and has been ordered to stop being sold twice. If your father is persistent Chevy try getting the Sonic it hasn't been recalled as much at least. I personally like it better because it can come in a hatch or sedan both with a 6 speed manual turbo option! I drove one and it's really peppy and a lot bigger on the inside than it looks.

Being your only 18 you need something small like a honda civic, honda accord or a subaru! But make sure there are no recalls on what ever you buy! They had recalls on some of the GM cars like the cobalt!

Hyundai Tucson

2000 to 2004 Cadillac Deville. Solid car, big and boring. Easily seats 4 friends. Has a huge trunk for your books and lampshades. Has reliable record, very safe and gets 20+ MPG. Find one on Craigslist, preferably one-owner. You can get one for $4000.

Cars are a horrible investment, depreciate very rapidly and create hardship and worry, especially when brand spanking new. A car is for transportation and utility, not to impress people you don't even know.

  • Which car should be my first? 2003 Audi A4 2007 Hyundai Sonata 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt LS 2006 Volkswagen Jetta 2007 Honda Civic 2008 Hyundai Accent 2006 Ford Taurus SEL
  • Which car should be my first one out of these? 2006 Hyundai Elantra GLS 2006 Mercury Milan Premier 2004 Toyota Camry LE 2004 Ford Taurus SES 2005 Hyundai Accent GLS
  • What car should I get for my first car? I'm 16 and about to buy my first car. I'm thinking about getting a 94 Ford Ranger (120k miles) with lifted suspension, off road tires, and a prerunner bumper. Would this be a reliable car throughout my high school years? Should I get that or should I just get a 2 door coupe?
  • Which car should I get as a first car? Ford fusion 06 or 07 model? Or chevy avalanche 2002 z71. And last Mazda 6 04, 05 & 07. The newer the higher the price for each model(not by much). I'm a fan of each car and model style, so really want to know which last longer, cheaper maintenance and good car for a college boy.
