What's a good small car for a big person?

My friend is about 6'2 and has a 2001 Chevy Impala. The car keeps breaking down and he's sick of it and is looking for a better car. I drive a Ford Focus and since I'm a small guy (5'6) I fit no problem. He struggles to fit in my car. He wants a small car for better fuel economy but I can't think of a car that he'll comfortably fit in. Any suggestions?

He will not actually know until he goes to various car lots and actually sits in a number of different cars. I'm 6'2" as well but what's comfortable for me might not be for him. As a suggestion, there are plenty of cars of larger sizes that get good gas mileage, some as good as smaller cars. Hybrids would also be a consideration. Your friend would be making a mistake to assume that only very small cars get good gas mileage.

I'm the same height as your friend, and the car I chose is a Kia Rondo, 2009 model. Very roomy, very peppy, and with very good economy.

Not only is it very comfortable to be in, but in the driver's seat, I have several inches of clear space over my head, and with the driver's seat in the full back position, the seat immediately behind it has more than ample leg room for me.

How about a VW Passat TDI?

I'm 6'2" and use a Mazda 3 for my daily commutes and have plenty of room. Mine does not have a sun/moonroof, and I've noticed I bump my head in many compacts with them, so he may consider that (getting a manual trumped getting a sun/moonroof for me anyway).
